Quick post!
One of my all time weaknesses is pizza. Hot pizza is nice and all, but I'd prefer it cold...Mmm
Many people hate it cold but I like it because the crust gets hard and you can't really taste the sauce anymore. Not to mention I'd rather not feel guilty about biting into a slice of hot pizza with several pools of grease staring back at me! yuck

Yeeeh, Spring Break!
Here I am, enjoying my Spring Break (thank goodness!), and I've just realized that it's about time to actually start this blog up! I've been home for a couple days now and was planning on making at least 2 great meals before the week was up but alas~ 3 days have gone by already and I have yet to make anything more than a few salads, a grilled cheese, and a poached egg... damn.
Guess I'll start with one of those then! & I was thinking the poached egg. Funny thing is I saw this idea to poach an egg in a microwave back in January (don't remember where, sorry!) and it really appealed to me because 1. Breakfast is my favorite meal E V E R 2. Eggs are yummy and 3. I have a microwave in my dorm room, making this procedure quick and easy!
[Tools&Ingredients]
microwave
a mug or bowl
1 toothpick
a few tablespoons of water
splash of vinegar
1 egg
(optional) salt & pepper, toast, cheese, hot sauce, etc.
1) Fill the mug with a little bit of water, just enough to cover the top of the egg when you crack it.
2) Crack the egg into the water, adding more water if necessary.
Voila!, a poached egg in under a minute. It may not be the prettiest sight but it most definitely compliments a breakfast of any kind, be it toast, hasbrowns, or bacon

3) Poke a few holes into the egg yolk so that it doesn't explode in the microwave.
4)Pour a splash of vinegar into the mug...this helps keep the yolk and egg white together in the water.
5) Place the mug into the microwave and set the cook time between 45 and 55 seconds, less time for runny yolk, more time for harder yolk.
Voila!, a poached egg in under a minute. It may not be the prettiest sight but it most definitely compliments a breakfast of any kind, be it toast, hasbrowns, or bacon
Enjoy* : )

A Nice Welcome to Myself
Well, it seems about the time I should become apart of one more internet community...making this about the fourth including Myspace, Facebook and the like. I'm quite excited about Blogger though! I can write about anything that perks my interests and I could be so lucky if my blog interested some readers as well ; )
Here's a bit about myself and this blog just in case someone really nice might want to know! I'm currently a sophomore at Green Mountain College in Vermont and loving it! My roomate Kelsey created a blog called "The Love Monster," a compilation of love, dating, and raunchy sex advice, along with her views on fashion and life in general. It's a great blog that I would recommend to anyone who needs a little help on the love front or who is looking for a laugh! If you haven't realized yet, "The Grub Monster" is a play on her title, although I can't say I take the credit for that witty one. A nice guy by the name of Garth thought of the title, maybe he would grace us with a post or some silly insight in the near future. Fingers crossed!
A fun fact about myself is that I LOVE to spend time sifting through food blogs for the most delicious looking dishes, as well as bookmarking potential recipes that I could make but probably won't for months, if at all! I like to refer to myself as an 'aspiring foodie' but I've failed to even fulfill that title due to the fact that I hardly have the time, money, or kitchen space because, hey...I'm a college student, woo! & this is why I'm devoting this blog to my love of food! I love eating food, making food, seeing food, reading about food, anything involving food. I plan on including personal food reviews, sharing recipes that make my mouth water, reminiscing about favorite foods, new foods, etc. The sky's the limit! I was also thinking of opening my blog up to other subjects as well, such as music or just about anything that interests me, as long as food remains the star!
So welcome to The Grub Monster~ I hope you enjoy and find something you like here! : )
